Best 1-Person Office Pods in New Zealand

Buying guide

The best one-person pods in New Zealand.

Five booths, judged on the four things that separate them. We make one of them — read it accordingly, and check every claim.

FocusPod acoustic office booth installed on an open-plan office floor

For a one-person booth in New Zealand in 2026, the shortlist comes down to five. Judge them on certified acoustics (Class A to ISO 23351-1), stated airflow in m³/h, lead time, and whether the price is published. The FocusPod Solo at $10,730 ex GST delivered is the only one of the five that is Class A rated, built to order, and priced openly on the page.

How we judged them

Four criteria

Every supplier claims quiet. These are the four things that actually differ between one-person booths, and the four we would use if we were buying rather than selling.

Certified acoustics. Class A under ISO 23351-1 with a report number, not a decibel figure on a web page.

Airflow, in m³/h. The most under-asked question in a pod purchase, and the reason perfectly good booths sit unused.

Lead time. New Zealand stock ships in days. Built-to-order imports run twelve to sixteen weeks, and that gap is a real cost.

Published price. If you cannot find out what something costs without a phone call, that is a deliberate choice about how they want to sell to you.

The five

Ranked
1

FocusPod Solo — our pick, and we make it

Class A to ISO 23351-1 at up to 30 dB. Airflow to 70 m³/h with the air changed every 1.6 minutes, and it keeps cycling for five minutes every half hour when the booth is empty — which almost nothing else in this range does. Held in New Zealand stock, dispatching the three-week lead time. Ten-year structural warranty with parts on the Queensland.

Against it: no smart technology, and it is sized for calls rather than full working days. If someone will be in there for hours with two monitors, buy the Solo Plus.

2

Framery One — the premium option

Class A at 30 dB, the same rating, with 94 m³/h default airflow. Genuinely well engineered, made in Finland, and carrying technology nothing else here offers: touchscreen, calendar booking, occupancy analytics, sound masking.

Against it: no published New Zealand pricing — you go through a dealer and wait for a quote. And the premium buys features most floors never use. Worth it if your workplace runs on room-booking infrastructure and the pods must join it.

3

FocusPod Solo Plus — if it's a workstation, not a phone booth

Same Class A acoustics and the same build, with 1462 × 1335 mm of floor instead of 942 × 960. Airflow to 110 m³/h. This is the one for someone spending three-hour stretches inside with dual monitors and a proper chair.

Against it: $3,000 more and 2.2 m² of floor instead of 1.0. If the booth is for calls between meetings, that money is better spent on a second Solo.

4

Furniture-retailer booths — the value option, with caveats

Several New Zealand office furniture retailers carry a one-person booth alongside desks and chairs. Prices are competitive and delivery is often bundled with a wider fitout order, which is genuinely convenient if you are buying a floor's worth of furniture anyway.

Against it: pods are a sub-line rather than the business, so technical answers tend to be thin. Ask for the acoustic report number and the airflow figure in m³/h — if those take a week to produce, that tells you how much support you will get in year three.

Typically $6,000–$9,000

5

Direct import — rarely worth it under ten units

Buying straight from an overseas manufacturer. The factory price is genuinely 40 to 60 percent below New Zealand retail, and at volume with someone who can run a supply chain, the numbers can work.

Against it: the unit price is the smallest part. Add sea freight, customs and GST, delivery to your floor, and electrical rectification — units built for other markets arrive with the wrong outlets, and bringing them to AS/NZS 3000 is licensed electrical work. Twelve to sixteen weeks, no local warranty, and a failed fan in year two is a freight order and a four-week wait.

$4,000–$6,000 ex-works, before everything else

What we would actually do

If the job is stopping people taking client calls at their desk — which is why most offices buy a one-person booth — buy a Solo, and if the budget stretches, buy two rather than upgrading to one better booth.

People stop using a booth after finding it occupied twice. Two ordinary booths on a floor outperform one excellent booth almost every time, and that is the single most useful thing on this page.

What customers say

Named, with permission
Solo · Auckland

★★★★★

“We added a FocusPod Solo because private phone calls were becoming difficult in our open-plan office. It gets used constantly for client calls, Zoom meetings and focused work. It looks professional, takes up very little space and has freed up our meeting rooms for larger groups.”

Emily Carter
Harbour Lane Finance

Solo · Christchurch

★★★★★

“We originally purchased one FocusPod Solo to see how much use it would get. Within the first week, staff were booking it throughout the day. It has given everyone a quiet place to take calls without interrupting the rest of the office.”

Daniel Brooks
Westbridge Property Group

Solo · Queensland

★★★★★

“The Solo has been a great addition to our studio. We have a collaborative workspace, which is excellent most of the time, but it can be difficult when someone needs privacy or complete concentration. The pod solves that problem without taking over the room.”

Sarah Mitchell

Solo Plus · Wellington

★★★★★

“I use the Solo Plus as a proper workstation for most of the day, not just for short calls. There is enough room for my laptop, monitor and notes, and it feels comfortable even during long stretches of focused work. It has made working in an open office much easier.”

Michael Tran
Apex Digital Solutions

Solo Plus · Dunedin

★★★★★

“We chose the Solo Plus for employees who spend several hours each day in video meetings. It feels much more spacious than a standard phone booth and works well as a private office for longer sessions. The lighting and airflow have also been excellent.”

Common questions

What is the best 1-person office pod in New Zealand?

Judge on four things: Class A acoustics under ISO 23351-1 with a report number, stated airflow in cubic metres per hour, lead time, and whether the price is published. The FocusPod Solo at $10,730 ex GST delivered is Class A, built to order, and priced openly.

How much should a one-person office pod cost?

Between roughly $7,500 and $11,000 ex GST in New Zealand depending on size, with delivery included by a reputable supplier. Below that, ask what has been cut — usually panel density, ventilation capacity or New Zealand electrical compliance.

What size is a one-person office pod?

A compact call booth is around 1080 × 1000 mm externally with 942 × 960 mm inside. A larger single-person booth sized for full working days runs about 1600 × 1375 mm externally. Both stand 2338 mm tall.

Should I buy one bigger booth or two smaller ones?

Two smaller ones, almost always. People stop trying after finding a booth occupied twice, so a single booth on a busy floor frequently ends up unused. Two ordinary booths beat one excellent booth.

Do cheaper office pods work?

Some do.Ask for the acoustic report number and the airflow figure before comparing on price alone.
