Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

The questions we actually get asked.

Fifteen straight answers, plus where to go for the detail behind each one.

The most common questions about acoustic office pods in New Zealand: they cost $10,730 to $20,335 ex GST delivered, need no council consent and no electrician, are rated Class A to ISO 23351-1 at up to 30 dB, ship three-week lead time from New Zealand stock, assemble in two to four hours, and carry a 10-year structural warranty.

Everything, answered

Do you deliver outside the main centres?

Yes. We deliver and install everywhere in New Zealand, not just the main centres. Delivery to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch is included in the published price. Rural, remote and South Island regional addresses may carry an additional freight charge — we quote it up front with your pod price, never at checkout and never after you have ordered.

How much does an office pod cost in New Zealand?

Between $10,730 and $20,335 ex GST for the pod itself depending on size, with delivery included to main centres nationwide, with a freight quote for rural and remote addresses. Professional installation is optional from $1,145 to $2,070 ex GST, and furniture packages start at $515 ex GST.

Do office pods need council consent?

No. A freestanding pod does not attach to the floor, walls or ceiling and is treated as furniture rather than building work, so council consent is not required. Check your lease for any landlord conditions on floor loading.

Do I need an electrician?

No. Every model runs from a single standard 240V 10A outlet and draws between 40 and 120 W. No dedicated circuit, no hard-wiring, no electrical trade. Wiring inside the pod is to AS/NZS 3000 with its own circuit breaker.

How soundproof are they really?

No booth is completely soundproof. Every FocusPod is rated Class A under ISO 23351-1 at up to 30 dB speech level reduction, which means a normal speaking voice inside is not intelligible outside. You may hear that someone is talking; you will not hear what they are saying.

How long does delivery take?

In-stock white exterior with grey interior ships on our standard three-week lead time with delivery included to main centres nationwide, with a freight quote for rural and remote addresses. Custom colour combinations are built to order and typically ready in four to six weeks.

How long does assembly take?

Two people assemble a one-person pod in two to four hours with basic tools. Professional installation by our team is usually finished in a single morning.

Will it fit in my building's lift?

Usually, because pods ship flat-packed. Packed pallets are 1270 mm tall and between 2310 and 2650 mm long — that length is what fails a lift, not the assembled height. Send us your lift dimensions and we will confirm before you order.

Will my floor take the weight?

Almost certainly. Assembled weights run from 290 kg to 970 kg. Because the larger pods spread that over a bigger footprint, loading falls as the pod grows: roughly 143 kg/m² for a six-person pod, 171 for a four-person, 228 to 254 for the two-person models, and about 310 kg/m² for the smallest booth, which concentrates its weight over roughly one square metre. Most New Zealand commercial floors are designed to a 3.0 kPa uniformly distributed load under AS/NZS 1170.1, which is about 306 kg/m² — so the larger models sit comfortably inside it and the smallest is worth confirming with your building manager on older floors. We supply exact figures on request.

Can pods be moved to a new office?

Yes. Pods disassemble and reassemble, which is why they sit on the balance sheet as a relocatable asset rather than a leasehold improvement you leave behind.

What warranty comes with a FocusPod?

Ten years structural and three years electrical from delivery, with spare parts stocked in our Queensland facility rather than shipped from overseas.

Can I return a pod?

Standard stock pods can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Custom colour combinations are built to order and are not returnable. Contact us first so we can arrange collection.

Do you deliver outside the capital cities?

Yes. Delivery is free to main centre addresses from our Queensland facility. Our own installation team covers the capitals; elsewhere we arrange installation or you can assemble it yourself.

Can I see one before buying?

Yes.Shut the door, have someone talk outside, and sit in it for ten minutes with the fans running.

Can pods be branded or custom coloured?

Yes. Seven exterior and thirteen interior finishes, plus vinyl wrapping for branding. Custom combinations are built to order in about four to six weeks.

Are office pods tax deductible?

Generally treated as a depreciable business asset rather than a leasehold improvement, because they are freestanding and relocatable. Depreciation treatment and depreciation eligibility depend on your circumstances — confirm with your accountant.
